This page is all about gaining an understanding into how existing artists portray themselves.  Do the music videos have any direct relevance to the context of the song, do they reflect the artists star persona, or does it even need to?  This is to give me an understanding of how similar artists portray themselves on screen, whilst acting as a catalyst for inspiration when planning and developing my own ideas and theories….

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan’s career has lasted the better part of fifty years now. Dylan has remained not only active for almost all of that period, but controversial. He has never gotten by on sentimentality or nostalgia. He has never repeated his successes. For better or for worse, Dylan has always pushed his work ahead. As a singer song writer he is matched by few in history, but what has set him alight over the years is his charm and depth of character. It is this charm that I would like to analyze, and see wether or not it has influenced any videos made about him.
